The Performing Arts within the College are well-resourced and a large number of students take examination courses in Music, Drama or the Performing Arts and achieve very good results.

Millennium Building

In March 2006 the College achieved specialist Language College status as a result of the high standards of teaching and learning throughout the College. The Modern Foreign Languages Department offers three languages, French, Spanish and German, and has the benefit of members of staff from these countries.

Pupils also reach a high level of academic achievement and performance in Drama and Music and the College has achieved an Artsmark award.

King Edward VI Community College, Totnes

A highly successful specialist Performing Arts College, offering an exciting range of opportunities across Music, Dance and Drama.  Significant links with artists and key partners in a wide range of education and community arts projects.  Recognised by the Arts Council through partnership in the new Dartington Plus project, a key initiative for the arts in the South West. Within the dynamic Modern Foreign Languages department German, French and Spanish are taught and the department encourages and fosters cultural awareness and understanding.

 

Ofsted:  "An excellent feature of the curriculum is the variety of arts courses offered in Years 10 and 11 and the sixth form that reflects the specialist performing arts status of the college."

A recent new building programme has provided a very good range of Music and Drama facilities.  A successful and popular school, where relationships are extremely good.

 

Ofsted:  "Provision in Drama is very good, standards are well above average with excellent teaching in Years 10 and 11.  Teachers work as a team to inspire the students and provide very good additional enrichment to the curriculum.  Music provision is excellent.  Standards are outstandingly good.  The range of opportunities in instrumental tuition is excellent."

Modern Foreign Languages at Lipson seeks to cater for students individual personal growth and progression towards full potential, through the active utilisation and engagement of contemporary language and ICT technology skills. There are annual College visits to both France and Spain.

A thriving specialist Performing Arts College (since 1988) with a Gold Artsmark award, serving eastern and central Plymouth.  Music, Drama and Dance play a key role in transforming learning across the college, which has a national reputation for high quality theatre and choral work.  A wide range of extra-curricular activities, master classes and performances are offered termly, supported by teaching staff, peripatetic professionals and visiting artists.

Ofsted:  "The specialist focus on performing arts provides significant moral and cultural development opportunities and the school’s equalities initiatives enable pupils to develop a strong awareness of Britain as a multicultural, multi-faith society."

Okehampton College, Okehampton

South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton

The College has achieved an Artsmark Gold Standard award.  Teaching facilities in Modern Foreign Languages and the Performing Arts are very impressive and there is a strong tradition of collaboration within the extra-curricular activities.

St Peter’s Church of England Aided School, Exeter

An 11-16 voluntary aided comprehensive with specialist Language College status. The school recently moved into a new purpose-built building in 2006.

Tavistock College, Tavistock

In September 1996, Tavistock College were granted Language College status under the Specialist Schools Initiative and the College has also achieved an Artsmark award.  With international links with France, Germany, India, Japan, Spain, Uganda and USA this is a large and thriving community college, where a wide range of extra-curricular activities contribute to pupils cultural development.
