The Devon Secondary Teacher Training Group offers one year, full-time, school-centred, PGCE (Honours Level) and PGCE M (Masters Level) courses in Drama or Music or Modern Foreign Languages (French, German and Spanish).  Our courses are validated by the University of Worcester.

We are the only secondary SCITT provider in the country that has been graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in three consecutive inspections.  We have been placed in the top 3 of the National League Tables for Secondary SCITT in 2009, 2010 and 2011, as published by the Centre for Education and Employment Research at the University of Buckingham.

    Drama PGCE

    Drama trainees are offered a rich programme of Performing Arts activities to support their professional development as teachers, helping to inform their practice and broaden their knowledge of contemporary theatre.

    Music PGCE

    The course, whilst aiming to train confident specialist teachers of Music for the full 11-18 age range, also recognises the importance of developing and celebrating the musician in every trainee by offering opportunities to perform and compose with professional musicians.

    MFL PGCE

    MFL trainees are encouraged to collaborate with trainees from the Performing Arts subjects to explore the use of creative Drama and Music techniques within their own classroom practice. They also have the option of spending time abroad as part of the course to develop their linguistic skills.
